Auditor Responsibilities

The County Auditor serves as the chief financial officer and property tax assessor for the County. In this role, the Auditor manages the county’s finances, including processing payroll for over 2,000 employees, paying all county bills, and maintaining accurate records of fund balances. As the official appraiser for all real estate and manufactured homes, the Auditor determines property values for taxation purposes.

Once property taxes are collected by the County Treasurer, the Auditor is responsible for distributing those funds to the appropriate cities, villages, townships, and school districts, based on legally established tax rates. Additionally, the Auditor oversees weights and measures to ensure fairness in commerce and acts as the licensing authority for specific licenses required under Ohio law.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Auditor is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and integrity. This website reflects that commitment by providing transparent access to information and prioritizing excellent customer service.
